AGalaxy smartphone with a wraparound display is on the drawing board at Samsung, according to reports.
The South Korean company wants to launch a smartphone with a wrap around display, according to Bloomberg. The wraparound display will allow users to read different information from different angles.
According to the report, the handset will use an upgraded version of the Youm display technology seen in the Galaxy Round.
Last week, details of Samsung’s Youm display roadmap were leaked. That report revealed that Samsung plans to launch a smartphone with a foldable screen by 2015.
The device that is on the drawing board won’t have a flexible screen. However, it is seen as a stepping stone towards that goal. It is said to have three sides – each operating independently of each other.
It’s currently unclear if the handset will ever make it past the prototype stage. Even if it does, it is possible that it will remain a test product launched only in South Korea, like the Samsung Galaxy Round.
Bloomberg didn’t provide a date for when we might see more details or the device itself.
However, according to the roadmap that was leaked the other day, it is possible that we’ll see the first details emerge before the end of this year.
